Police Officer, Ellsworth Police Department

The City of Ellsworth (pop 3000) is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. The person in this position will be responsible for conducting law enforcement duties to include but not limited to patrol, investigations, as well as other assigned duties The Ellsworth Police Department covers the community 24 hours a day utilizing 12 hour shifts. Officers generally have rotating days off along with every other weekend.

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  Starting salary for a non-certified law enforcement officer is $15.00 per hour. Starting salary for an already certified law enforcement officer is dependent on qualifications. The Ellsworth Police Department participates in KPERS retirement system. The City has 8 paid holidays along with 2 personal days each year. The Department also provides uniforms and equipment for each officer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Applicants must:

  • U.S. Citizens that are at least 21 years of age
  • possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • have the ability to obtain a valid Kansas Driver's License
  • have no felony convictions, diversions or expunged records
  • no convictions for domestic battery
  • possess good moral character

Applicants with KLETC certification will be given preference.
Applicants will be required to pass physical agility test and an oral interview board. 
Final candidates will be required to pass an extensive background investigation. A conditional job offer requires the applicant pass a psychological evaluation, physical and drug test.
