Exercising excellent communication, problem solving and customer service skills, you will take pride in serving and protecting a community that fully supports it's law enforcement officers. The department is currently comprised of the Chief of Police, one Sergeant and four full-time Police Officers, with plans of adding additional full-time and part-time positions.
TYPE: Full Time
SALARY: Starting hourly wage is $15.50 per hour with Kansas Police & Fire Retirement and an excellent insurance package.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current, certified law enforcement officers preferred, but not required. All applicants need to meet the following qualifications. High School diploma or equivalent, U.S. Citizen, Possess a valid driver's license, 21 years of age on the date of testing, reside within 30 miles of Herington, Must not have been convicted of a felony crime or a crime involving domestic violence or any serious misdemeanors. Must pass a Physical Abilities Test, Personnel Evaluation Profile and Frontline National Testing System exam. Applicants who are successful in the testing phase will be invited to compete in the interview process. Applicants who are provided a conditional offer of employment must pass a background investigation, psychological evaluation, medical physical and drug screen.
