To become a police officer, you must be a person of honor and integrity, possess strong communication skills, and be able to render sound decisions under pressure. Most of all, you must be committed to public service, which includes participating in community service activities, assisting citizens, and investigating/solving crimes. You may also have the opportunity to be tested or interviewed for special assignments like Field Training Officer (FTO), Honor Guard, Bike Patrol, SRT, DARE and more.
Training is provided through the police department and certification by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. We will send you to the KLETC Academy if you are not already KS CPOST Certified. If you are already certified we encourage you to apply.
Hours: Full Time
Salary: The range for the position is $14.93 to $27.15/hour, depending on education and previous law enforcement experience, along with an excellent benefits package. There are additional levels of compensation including Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant.
Qualifications: This position requires a willingness to work ALL rotating shifts, including days, afternoons and evenings, plus some weekends and holidays.
Applicants must be 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED (college preferred) and no felony convictions. The selection process includes a written test, oral interview, polygraph, and psychological examination. Must be able to pass a law enforcement background check, drug screen and physical.
