The Director of University Police and Parking Services is responsible for coordinating public safety services (patrol operations, investigations, officer recruitment and training), community policing, crime prevention strategies, college crime statistic reporting, event management/crowd control, facilities security, traffic control and parking enforcement, and criminal incident/emergency scene management for the campus; for ensuring a safe and productive environment for the Pittsburg State University community; and for maintaining strong relationships with other local, state and national law enforcement and emergency management agencies.

Bachelor's degree, criminal justice, fire science, or law enforcement or related field, five years of experience in general law enforcement, two years of administrative and supervisory experience. Must complete a basic law enforcement training program recognized by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission and obtain certification as a law enforcement officer from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission before being given permanent status. At time of appointment must pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. This class requires the use of a firearm for law enforcement duties and therefore the individual cannot have been convicted of, and must be free of any diversions from, a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime as set forth in 18 U.S.C.Â§ 922 (d) (9) and (g) (9).
Preferred: Master's degree in an appropriate field, working knowledge of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act; Violence Against Women Act of 1994; and, Title IX and their implications for campus law enforcement administration.
