The Osawatomie Police Department is accepting applications for full-time Police Officers with a proactive mindset and high moral character.
The Police Department consists of 14 full-time (including command staff) and 5 part-time officers. We currently work 12-hour shifts, rotating for every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. As of 2019, the City of Osawatomie had a population of 4,293 people.
Opportunities for special assignments including investigations, narcotics, and additional traffic enforcement.
Osawatomie is rich with Civil War history, featuring the John Brown Museum. The city also has multiple shopping and dining options, the Ozone recreation and fitness center, the Flint Hills Trail Mile Zero (biking and hiking trail), two adjacent city lakes, and well as a newly renovated Midway Drive-in movie theater. Osawatomie is an easy one hour drive from the Kansas City metro for additional shopping and entertainment.
We are recruiting experienced Officers as well as those new to the field of law enforcement.
- No felony and/or domestic violence related convictions
- No Brady/Giglio history
- Valid driver’s License
- Must be able to pass a thorough background check, drug screen, physical and psychological screen, and basic competency testing.
Compensation and Benefits
- $18.00 starting for non-certified officers. There is an immediate pay increase with successful completion of basic Law Enforcement Academy (KLETC).
- $19.00-$20.00 starting for certified officers, depending on experience. Persons from outside states that are able to attend KLETC for reciprocity training are also encouraged to apply.
