The City of Medicine Lodge is hiring for the position of a full time police officer. Certified is preferred but not required. Medicine Lodge is located approximately 85 miles Southwest of Wichita with the Police Department serving a population of 1,725 people.
This position requires an individual to be self-motivated with the self-discipline to work with limited supervision at times as well as work with surrounding agencies. Applicants should be effective in communication, possess public relations skills, and be organized. This position requires the enforcement of all federal, state and local laws and ordinances, perform routine patrols, enforce traffic laws, and investigate crimes and traffic collisions.
Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess a valid driver’s license in good standing. Must not have any felony convictions, domestic violence convictions, or convictions involving crimes of dishonesty. Successful candidates must pass a criminal history background check, oral interview, psychological examination, and a medical evaluation.
Salary: Full-time non-certified $15.00/hr up to $15.50/hr upon certification. Full time certified $16.00/hr up to $18.55/hr depending upon qualifications.
Officers work a rotating 12 hour shift with every other three day weekend off. The City’s benefits package includes KPERS retirement, paid vacation/sick leave, and paid holidays. The City of Medicine Lodge is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
