The Governor vetoed HB2372, a bill on immigration and federal law enforcement, and a safety zone for officers under certain conditions. Today the veto override votes were 85-38 in the House and 31-8 in the Senate. The bill will now become law on July 1. This is the bill that includes the 25-foot safe space for officers, liability protections for agencies participating in 287g ICE programs, and several statute amendments to include federal officers and federal building protections.
The veto override votes on HB2329, the Juvenile Justice bill, were 89-34 in the House and 29-10 in the Senate. The bill will now become law on July 1. This bill has several changes to the Juvenile Justice statutes, the primary ones we were interested in addresses juvenile offenders who are repeat offenders and those committing crimes with firearms.

I will send a detailed report on those bills later.
Lots of other action today also. The governor signed a large number of bills (54 to be exact), many of them are bills we supported. I haven’t had time to go through all of them yet but will provide a report on them in the next few days.
The two year pilot project to cover costs of evaluation and treatment of post traumatic stress was not vetoed by the governor. It is part of the budget bill and will begin on July 1. More details later on this one also.
