9-1-1 Dispatcher, Crawford County Sheirff's Office

General Employment Requirements:

Prefer at least 1 year experience as a 911 Dispatcher, have a valid Kansas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record, and must have a level of education equivalent to four years of high school. Must successfully pass background investigation, pre-employment test, polygraph exam, and drug and alcohol testing. Must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees and the public.

Communications Officer/Dispatcher job duties:

Dispatches emergency calls by contacting units and relaying calls, providing fire, ambulance and law enforcement assistance, monitoring officer's status and radio frequencies, monitoring traffic stops for officer safety, broadcasting local, state, and nationwide teletypes, providing back-up units, responsible for answering emergency (911) phones, be proficient in computer operations. Must be able to relay information accurately and with clarity in stressful and tense situations. Answer non-emergency calls-assisting citizens and law enforcement with needed services, receiving calls for service, problem solving and routing calls to the appropriate department or agency. Performing related duties by checking and entering stolen items, maintaining wrecker logs, receiving and routing administrative messages, confirming and entering warrants, checking criminal histories, maintaining and updating protection orders. Perform related duties as required.

Other Requirements:

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or officer processes. Requires the ability to sit for a minimum of 8 hours and requires shift work, including weekends and holidays. Must have a clear speaking voice, memory retention, and the ability to hear and discern information from multiple sources simultaneously. Must have good visual acuity and be able to read information on a computer screen. Must be able to acquire and maintain CPR certification, NCIC certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older on the date of employment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $2,977.87 per month
