The City of Cedar Vale with a population of 475 is accepting applications/resumes for a full-time police chief. The job includes patrol and enforcement of federal, state, and local laws as well as city ordinances. Candidate must be able to work in a small-town environment. Excellent rural community communication skills. Must be available any shift (nights, weekends, and holidays). Must be computer proficient. Highly principled ethics and moral character. A true desire to serve all members of society. Must be available any shift (nights, weekends, and holidays). Must be computer proficient. At least one year of similar or related experience required. Pay based on qualifications. Benefits include: Paid sick leave, paid holidays, paid vacation, retirement, and health benefits. Position open until filled.

Qualifications required: High school diploma or GED. Graduation from the Kansas Law Enforcement Center, 40 hours of continuing education annually.  Must have or willing to acquire certification in CPR, First Aid, and Intoxilyzer. Must pass a background investigation.
