The City of Lyndon Police Department is seeking highly motivated individuals ready to serve their community with integrity, honor, and respect. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a dedicated law enforcement team serving a close-knit community of approximately 1,039 residents, nestled between two federal lakes in Osage County, Kansas.
As a Patrol Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and building strong community partnerships. Duties and responsibilities include enforcing all state and local laws and ordinances; taking calls for service; patrolling business districts and residential neighborhoods to deter and detect crime; investigating complaints; citing and/or arresting law violators; following up on pending reports and cases; protecting person(s) or property; and provides animal control services. When not responding to calls for service, department members are expected to use self-directed work time in an efficient manner by self-initiating work on those tasks identified by supervisory personnel as priorities for this job position.
Minimum Qualifications:

U.S. Citizen

High school diploma or GED

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must pass an extensive background investigation and psychological exam

Valid Kansas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Must be of good moral character
-
No felony convictions
-
No domestic battery convictions or diversions

No disqualifying misdemeanor convictions
-
Must reside in Osage County within one year of hire
-
Must be able to attend and pass all educational and physical requirements of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC)

This position requires shift work, including weekends and holidays
