The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant.  Russell County is located along I-70 in Western Kansas.  Encompassing more than 900 square miles, Russell County is home to 7 small communities and one of the largest recreational lakes in the state.  

TYPE:  Full time

SALARY:  Starting pay with no experience is $17.00 per hour.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The following are requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED). 
Must be able to pass the applicant testing, background investigation, and drug screening.
Must possess a Kansas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment. 
Applicants must be of good moral character with no felony, or serious misdemeanor convictions. 
Must be able to obtain and hold a security clearance.

Administrative Assistant, under the supervision of the Sheriff and Undersheriff, provides administrative support to the Sheriff’s Office.  The Administrative Assistant will be responsible to prepare department payroll and maintain vacation, sick leave records, prepare purchase orders, order supplies, prepare civil process papers, maintain inmate medical billing, and assist the Sheriff with any other duties required.  Administrative Assistant will be required to gain and maintain National Crime Information Center, Organizational Personnel with Security Responsibilities, and Terminal Agency Coordinator certifications withing six months of hire.  Administrative Assistant hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Russell County offers medical insurance through Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Freedom Claims Management INC.  Retirement is KPERS.
