The Pratt Police Department invites dedicated, observant, and principled law enforcement  professionals to apply for the position of Police Detective.   • Preferred Experience: 10 years in law enforcement, with a strong investigative  background  

Primary Responsibilities  

As a Police Detective, you will be responsible for conducting thorough criminal  investigations, collecting and analyzing evidence, and collaborating with prosecutors to  build strong cases. Your duties will encompass a wide range of investigative assignments  and require exemplary judgment, professionalism, and sensitivity.  

  • Investigate serious crimes including homicide, assault, robbery, sexual offenses,  burglary, and financial crimes  
  • Conduct interviews and interrogations with victims, witnesses, and suspects 
  • Collect, preserve, and document physical and digital evidence in accordance with  established protocols  
  • Utilize advanced investigative techniques such as surveillance, undercover  operations, and forensic analysis  
  • Prepare detailed investigative reports and maintain accurate case files  
  • Testify credibly in court and collaborate with prosecutors throughout the judicial  process  
  • Work closely with other law enforcement agencies, community organizations, and  the public to solve cases and prevent crime  
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training related to investigative  best practices  
  • Mentor and support junior officers and detectives, sharing expertise and promoting  ethical standards  
  • Demonstrate exceptional discretion, cultural competence, and empathy when  dealing with sensitive cases and diverse populations  

Qualifications and Requirements  

Required:  

  • Current certification as a law enforcement oƯicer.  
  • Minimum of 10 years of sworn law enforcement experience.  
  • Documented experience in criminal investigations and case management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills  
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities  
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment  
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed 
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record 
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
