The Wellsville Police Department is accepting applications for:  

One (1) Full-Time Police Officer. 

Starting Pay starts at $22.00 per hour and may be increased based on experience and qualifications.

Wellsville is a growing community of approximately 2,000 residents located along I-35 corridor between Ottawa and Olathe in Franklin County.  

Currently our department has 8 employees: a Chief, 1 Sergeant, 5 Patrol officers, 1 Administrative Assistant and 1 Municipal Court Clerk.  

Officers must be willing to work a highly flexible schedule based on case load and needs of the department.

This position requires working Days, Nights, Weekends and Holidays.

Shift rotation between day/night.

Officers work 12 hour shifts with every other 3 day weekend off for a total of 7 days/84 hours in a 14 day period.

Must reside within 30-mile radius of Wellsville within 90 days of hire.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Police Officers protect the life and property of citizens within the City of Wellsville by enforcing all federal, state and local laws and ordinances

Officers work under the supervision of a Patrol Sergeant andthe Chief of Police and are subject to the personnelpolicies of the City of Wellsville. 

Our agency handles a full range of duties some of which include: 

• Patrol

• Response to calls for service

• Traffic enforcement

• Investigation of city ordinance and state law violations

• Report writing

• Municipal and district court testimony 

• Direct contact with the community.

Minimum qualifications:

• High school or GED diploma.

• United States Citizen 

• 21-years of age at time of appointment

• KLETC certified officers preferred, but not required.  We will train the right person

• No Felony, domestic violence or serious misdemeanor offenses

• Possess a valid Kansas driver's license 

Selection process includes an oral board interview, extensive background check, drug screen, physical, and psychological testing.
