    The Anthony Police Department has an immediate opening for a full-time police officer position.  Our department is looking for a professional, motivated person with strong moral character, who has an interest in protecting and serving the residents of a small farming community which takes great pride in its small-town feel.  Applicants should possess a community-orienting, policing mindset and desire, and should possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.       

    The Anthony Police Department is offering a $1,500 sign on bonus. A new hire will receive $500 dollars when hired and $1,000 after 90 days. 

    The Anthony Police Department is authorized to staff 5 sworn positions including the Chief of Police.  Our officers work rotating 12-hour shifts that allow a 3-day weekend off every two weeks.  The city of Anthony offers employees a benefits package, fully paid single or family BCBS health insurance, KPERS retirement, and first year employees accrue 12 hours of paid time off each month of employment.  The department will pay for your attendance at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, and upon completion you will receive the opportunity for further advanced training as you progress in your career.  But most importantly, working at a small-town police department affords you the opportunity to investigate a case from the first dispatch to the jury trial.  You will get the opportunity to respond to a wide variety of calls for service, investigate felony cases ranging from drug distribution to sex offenses, write and execute search warrants, and get to do it all while making strong connections with your community along the way.

    The Council Grove Police Department is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer that is proactive and possesses a good work ethic.

    The Police Department works a 2-2-3 schedule, with every other weekend off, and consists of a Chief, Lieutenant, Sergeant, four full time officers, including a K9 Team, and three part time officers.

    The city of Council Grove is the county seat of Morris County, Kansas, with a population of over 2,000 residents. It is home to the Council Grove City Lake, the Council Grove Federal Reservoir, and 13 sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There are several local eateries, a twenty four hour convenience store, a Dollar General, and several small businesses including a local grocery store.

    The City of Goddard, Kansas (pop. 6,300) is presently accepting applications for a full-time Police Service  Officer II. Goddard is a vibrant community, growing and accessible, the destination for a family oriented,  active lifestyle. Goddard was once named the fastest growing community in Kansas by the US Census  Bureau and is now poised for more significant growth as the fastest growing city in Sedgwick County. 

    The Goddard Police Department provides professional services to provide for the safety and security of our  citizens. This agency is staffed with 14 full-time commissioned Law Enforcement Officers and 2 civilian  Police Service Officer’s (PSO’s). Employees respond to requests from citizens needing assistance and act  as necessary for the protection of life and property. PSO-II work involves an element of danger and requires  the use of judgment, knowledge and skills in law enforcement procedures and policies. Responsibilities  also include preliminary investigation at crime scenes and detailed documentation. 

    Essential Functions: 

    • Patrol areas of the city either by patrol vehicle, or on foot to prevent and discover animal control  violations, enforce parking regulations and clear traffic hazards. 

    • Captures animals running at large; removes and disposes of dead animals. 

    • Answer calls and complaints received by radio, telephone, or in person involving animal control  violations, vicious and or injured animals, parking complaints, abandoned vehicles and or traffic  hazards. 

    • Transports unclaimed or seized animals to the animal shelter; transports sick and injured animals  to a veterinary clinic or animal shelter. 

    • Investigates and provides preliminary recommendations on animal bite and cruelty cases. • Issues warnings, citations and summons to violators of animal control and parking violations. • Attends to the kennels by providing food and water to animals, while ensuring kennels are clean.  • Use a tranquilizer gun or firearm to contain or destroy animals as needed. 

    • Advises the public regarding compliance with health regulations and rabies protection. • Maintains a log of daily activities to include type of activity or call, time spent on each activity or  call, and action taken on each incident. 

    • Conduct preliminary investigations, gather evidence, and locate witnesses. 

    • Appear in court to present evidence and/or testify as required. 

    • Conduct safety-related community awareness and public relations work. 

    • May administer basic first aid. 

    • Provides assistance to stranded motorists and assists with traffic control duties. • Interview people with complaints or inquiries and make proper disposition or direct them to proper  authorities. 

    • May assist with urinalysis and breath alcohol test of individuals appearing in municipal court.

    • May search, photograph and fingerprint prisoners. 

    • Maintain records, prepare detailed reports and perform other clerical duties. • Locate, process, identify, collect, and preserve physical evidence. 

    • Attend classes, conferences, or seminars as assigned, deemed necessary to the best interests of  the city and department. 

    • Attend training to retain certifications. 

    • May be required to assist with a variety of motor vehicle accidents. 

    • Perform related work as required and directed.

    Norton is located in Norton County, Kansas. Our community borders Nebraska and we are the fourth county east of Colorado. The Prairie Dog State Park (Sebelius Reservoir) is located 4 miles west of Norton, offering great camping, boating and is one of the top fishing lakes in the state of Kansas! The area offers great hunting too!  South of Norton is one of the most highly maintained 9-hole golf courses in the area.  Norton also offers an exceptional school system. U.S. Highways 36 and 283 intersect in the middle of Norton, offering plenty of opportunity for drug interdiction. 

    The Norton Police Department is currently comprised of 7 officers: Chief of Police, Assistant Chief of Police, Sergeant/FTO and 4 patrol officers.     Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in  criminal justice, accounting, business administration or related fields.      The applicant must be a United States citizen, 21-years of age at time of appointment, must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license, must be able to legally own, carry and use a firearm in accordance with the Gun Control Act of 1968.

    Criminal record: Must not have committed, been convicted of, had a conviction expunged for or have been placed on diversion or deferred judgment by any state or federal agency for a felony crime or a misdemeanor of domestic violence or offense that reflects on the honesty, integrity or competence of the applicant. Must not be currently charged with or under indictment for any criminal activity other than minor traffic violations.     SALARY & BENEFITS

    Take home vehicle up to 30 miles once probation is completed.

    Patrol officers pay scale is $24.50-36.00.

    The starting wage for this position is $24.50-$30.00 depending upon qualifications. With a $.50 raise after the probationary period. The city of Garnett offers an excellent benefit package including vacation, and sick leave, paid holidays, gym membership, medical. Dental, and vision insurance paid 100% by employer for employee and $450.00 a month for family, and KP&F retirement.

    A $3,500 housing bonus for living in the City Limits of Garnett. Paid yearly on anniversary of hire date. Must reside in the City Limits for a full year and provide proof of residence.

    Patrol officers work 12 hours shifts and have every other Friday through Sunday off regardless of seniority level.  There are opportunities for advancement including supervisory positions, investigative positions and slots on a multi-jurisdictional tactical team that covers six different counties.

    Job Summary: Current Kansas Certified Law Enforcement Officer. 

    Under direction of the Patrol Lieutenant, develops and delivers innovative school programs which familiarize students with Law Enforcement procedures.  Provides Law Enforcement assistance and training to the faculty and students of U.S.D. 428. When not performing duties for U.S.D. 428, this position will work other duties as assigned. This shall be a joint position between the City of Great Bend Police Department and U.S.D. 428.   

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    I.Under direction of the Patrol Lieutenant develops and delivers innovative school programs which familiarize students with Law Enforcement procedures.  This shall be a joint position between the City of Great Bend and U.S.D. 428. 

    1. Develops and presents education programs, including safety, alcohol and drug abuse, traffic and criminal law, government, crime prevention, etc.  Coordinates education programs with school personnel

    2. Complies with all USD 428, city and departmental policies and procedures.

    3. Coordinate or assist with DARE core curriculum, prepare teaching materials (i.e., lesson plans, student notebooks, handouts, visual aids, etc.)  Assist with scheduling and coordinating DARE student graduation ceremonies. Provides directions to other DARE officers in the teaching of the DARE curriculum.

    4. Maintains good relationships with school principals, counselors, and other key school personnel.

    5. Visits classrooms as time permits.

    6. Prepare and give presentations at faculty in-service meetings, parent education evenings, PTA meetings, community service organizations, etc.

    7. Participates in extracurricular activities with students.

    8. Attend school in-service training sessions as time permits.

    9. Meets with U.S.D. 428 administration for feedback and program development.

    10. Develops and maintains an expertise on events and information related to the schools and students.

    11. Appears on television and/or radio promoting the department and programs.

    12. Takes and writes police reports when appropriate and required.

    13. Follows all protocol and guidelines established as a Law Enforcement officer for the Great Bend Police Department and maintains high ethical standards for the performance of duties in support of the department.

    14. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

    I.Qualifications: Current Kansas Certified Law Enforcement Officer plus: 

    1. Requires a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of modern police administration and police methods.

    2. Requires a thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances which are enforced by the department.  

    3. Requires knowledge of drug and alcohol prevention techniques, crime prevention, and teaching theory and practice.

    4. Requires the ability to relate well to children.

    5. Requires self-initiative, inventiveness, and creativity.  

    6. Requires a working knowledge of computers and software applications.

    7. Requires a good working knowledge of English, spelling, grammar, and math.

    8. Requires the ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff in verbal and written formats.
