    The City of Fredonia is currently accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer.

    Our department operates on 12-hour shifts (84 hours per pay period), with every other weekend off. Officers must be willing and available to work holidays, nights, and weekends as scheduled.

    The Fredonia Police Department promotes a family-oriented culture and strives to accommodate personal scheduling conflicts when possible—provided required hours are met and staffing levels allow. Once certified, officers will have opportunities to attend specialized training that supports the department’s mission and goals.

    Fredonia is a close-knit community of approximately 2,100 residents located in southeast Kansas, about 90 miles from four major metropolitan areas.

    Compensation

    - Entry-Level Officers: Starting wage is approximately $15.00/hour, with increases following successful graduation from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) and completion of a 90-day post-academy probationary period.
    - Lateral Entry Officers: Starting wage ranges from $18.00 to $20.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
    - Out-of-State Certified Officers: Required to complete a 40-hour reciprocity training course within the first year of employment.

    Under the supervision of the Sheriff and Undersheriff, the Patrol Deputy is a non-exempt position under FLSA. The job duties of the Patrol Deputy include but are not limited to performing general law enforcement duties in the protection of life and property within Sherman County; patrolling County areas; investigating at the scene of a crime or traffic accident; providing security at the Sherman County Courthouse; enforcing all federal, state, and local law resolutions; and providing responsive, courteous and efficient service to County residents and the general public. May be assigned special duties such as School Resource Officer (SRO). The following duties are normal for this position, other duties may be required and assigned.

    Patrols the county and related areas to preserve law and order, answers a variety of calls and complaints involving automobile accidents, robberies, domestic disturbances, other misdemeanors and felonies, and citizen assistance calls.  Conducts initial investigations and gathers evidence.  Contacts witnesses and makes arrests.  Assists and works with outside agencies on the apprehension of criminals and investigations.  Transports prisoners to court and testifies in court on related activities.  Serves civil court processes and warrants.  Performs security checks of business and residential properties.  Completes reports and records.  Inspects equipment for compliance with standards.  Provides security for the Sherman County courthouse.  Captures stray animals.  Serves as first responder to emergency situations until the medical unit arrives.  May be involved in additional specialized functions such as hazardous materials, aircraft rescue, and swift water rescue.  Provides backup for front desk.  Assists with jail bookings and other duties as needed.  May perform SRO duties in providing safety for students in school, providing education, mentorships, and serving as a positive role model on school campuses.  Assists landowners and farmers with agricultural animals that have escaped.  Provides assistance to the public particularly in times of disaster, such as snowstorms, floods, and tornadoes. Acts as a witness in court hearings.  Attends and completes all required training and demonstrates proficiency.  Completes and turns in all reports and necessary paperwork.  Enforces traffic laws and assists motorists.  Provides routine patrol duties on County roads, highways, and streets.  Seizes and preserves evidence, interviews witnesses, photographs evidence, completes accurate and technical reports, provides evidence to the County Attorney or other prosecutors.  Responds to dangerous situations often with no backup.

    The Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards & Training (KSCPOST) seeks to fill a part-time investigator position located in Wichita, KS. The Kansas Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training (KSCPOST) is committed to providing the citizens of Kansas with qualified, trained, ethical, competent, and professional peace officers.  It is also dedicated to adopting and enforcing professional standards for certification of peace officers to promote public safety and preserve public trust and confidence. One method the Commission utilizes to meet our statutory obligations to the citizens and law enforcement community is to review and take disciplinary action against the certifications of officers who violate the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Act (KLETA) – K.S.A. 74-5601 et seq. and related Kansas Administrative Regulations (KARs). KSCPOST investigators conduct thorough, independent and complex investigations into alleged violations of the KLETA and present the results of these investigations to the Commission for review and possible disciplinary action.

    PRIMARY DUTIES

These in-car laptops make it easy for an officer to complete reports in the field, access the RMS reporting system, check for wants and warrants on subjects you may encounter, access the department’s server to review other reports, special patrols, check statutes, policies, etc. The MDT’s also allow for driver’s licenses and vehicle license plate inquiries through NCIC when necessary and prudent. Besides MDT’s, our well-maintained patrol vehicles are also fully equipped with AR-15 patrol rifles, newly added less lethal weaponry, stop sticks, etc.  We have also recently implemented an automated evidence custody system.   

    Norton is located in Norton County, Kansas. Our community borders Nebraska and we are the fourth county east of Colorado. The Prairie Dog State Park (Sebelius Reservoir) is located 4 miles west of Norton, offering great camping, boating and is one of the top fishing lakes in the state of Kansas! The area offers great hunting too!  South of Norton is one of the most highly maintained 9-hole golf courses in the area.  Norton also offers an exceptional school system. U.S. Highways 36 and 283 intersect in the middle of Norton, offering plenty of opportunity for drug interdiction. 

    The Norton Police Department is currently comprised of 7 officers: Chief of Police, Assistant Chief of Police, Sergeant/FTO and 4 patrol officers. Each officer is provided with a tailored outer carrier molle police ballistic vest purchased by the department and is issued a Class A uniform to be worn for court and special services.

    Shifts: Our officers enjoy 12-hour shifts that allow for every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday OFF regardless of seniority level.  All shifts primarily consist of two patrol officers.   

    Salary: The range for this position is $23.92-32.73/hour, depending on education and previous law enforcement experience and/or certifications. There is additional compensation through opportunities for overtime and shift differential as well.  Currently evaluating salary scale with the objective to increase pay.

Officers of the Mulvane Police Department enforce federal, state, and city laws. Monitor and enforce traffic laws, city ordinances, respond to calls for service, and other duties as assigned.

    STARTING HOURLY RATE:

    • $22.59    Non-certified
    • Certified applicants pay will be based on training, experience, and qualifications.

    SHIFT :

    • 12 hour shifts      5am-5pm or 5pm-5am
    • 84 hour pay period

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Applicants must be 21 years of age.
    • U.S. Citizen.
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Valid Kansas Driver’s License with good driving record.
    • No Felony or serious Misdemeanor arrests.
    • Pass a thorough background check.
    • Pass an oral interview, physical, and psychological exam.
    • KLETC certification and prior law enforcement experience preferred but not required at time of application.

    The Anthony Police Department has an immediate opening for a full-time police officer position.  Our department is looking for a professional, motivated person with strong moral character, who has an interest in protecting and serving the residents of a small farming community which takes great pride in its small-town feel.  Applicants should possess a community-orienting, policing mindset and desire, and should possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.       

    The Anthony Police Department is offering a $1,500 sign on bonus. A new hire will receive $500 dollars when hired and $1,000 after 90 days. 

    The Anthony Police Department is authorized to staff 5 sworn positions including the Chief of Police.  Our officers work rotating 12-hour shifts that allow a 3-day weekend off every two weeks.  The city of Anthony offers employees a benefits package, fully paid single or family BCBS health insurance, KPERS retirement, and first year employees accrue 12 hours of paid time off each month of employment.  The department will pay for your attendance at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, and upon completion you will receive the opportunity for further advanced training as you progress in your career.  But most importantly, working at a small-town police department affords you the opportunity to investigate a case from the first dispatch to the jury trial.  You will get the opportunity to respond to a wide variety of calls for service, investigate felony cases ranging from drug distribution to sex offenses, write and execute search warrants, and get to do it all while making strong connections with your community along the way.  

    Like most police positions, applicants will be required to work some weekends, holidays, day shift, night shift, and other varying special assignments depending on need.          

    SALARY    Starting salary is a minimum of $23.09

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Duties and responsibilities include enforcing all federal, state and local laws and ordinances; taking calls for service; patrolling business districts and residential neighborhoods to deter and detect crime; investigating complaints; citing and/or arresting law violators; following up on pending reports and cases; preparing and/or serving civil law processes; protecting person(s) or property; and securing and protecting prisoners.  When not responding to calls for service, department members are expected to use self-directed work time in an efficient manner by self-initiating work on those tasks identified by supervisory personnel as priorities for this job position. 

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

     The applicant must be a United States citizen, 21-years of age at time of appointment, must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license, must be able to legally own, carry and use a firearm in accordance with the Gun Control Act of 1968.

    Criminal record: Must not have committed, been convicted of, had a conviction expunged for or have been placed on diversion or deferred judgment by any state or federal agency for a felony crime or a misdemeanor of domestic violence or offense that reflects on the honesty, integrity or competence of the applicant. Must not be currently charged with or under indictment for any criminal activity other than minor traffic violations. Must not be currently on probation.

    Must not have any possession, sales, distribution, manufacturing or transporting of any illegal drugs. Must not have any felonious drug(s) use within the last 10 years

     Must not have been convicted, plead guilty, plead no contest or been diverted on a serious traffic violation (DUI, reckless driving, hit and run, vehicular homicide, transporting open container of alcoholic or cereal malt beverage, eluding a police officer or negligent homicide) within the past three years.

    The applicant must be able to pass written aptitude test, polygraph, extensive background check, interview board, drug screen, physical fitness test, and psychological testing.

    SALARY & BENEFITS

    Lateral transfer will get a $5,000.00 hiring bonus. $2,500 paid upon completion of Field Training program. $2,500 paid upon completion of 2-year anniversary of completing the Field Training program.  Take home vehicle up to 30 miles once probation is completed.

    Patrol officers pay scale is $24.50-36.00.

    The starting wage for this position is $24.50-$30.00 depending upon qualifications. With a $.50 raise after the probationary period. The city of Garnett offers an excellent benefit package including vacation, and sick leave, paid holidays, gym membership, medical. Dental, and vision insurance paid 100% by employer for employee and $450.00 a month for family, and KP&F retirement.

    A $3,500 housing bonus for living in the City Limits of Garnett. Paid yearly on anniversary of hire date. Must reside in the City Limits for a full year and provide proof of residence.

    Patrol officers work 12 hours shifts and have every other Friday through Sunday off regardless of seniority level.  There are opportunities for advancement including supervisory positions, investigative positions and slots on a multi-jurisdictional tactical team that covers six different counties.
